**2012 Medical Student - Residency NRMP Match Calendar**
Spring 2011-Summer 2011	Continue to inquire about away electives, plan subinternships. Ask advisors, residents, friends about specialty selection and residency programs.
Summer-Fall 2011	All applicants request residency application materials directly from hospitals. Applicants can register with ERAS, a program separate from NRMP.
June 2011	Begin drafting CV. and personal statement. Begin asking faculty for letters of recommendation. Continue to seek advice from advisors, residents, friends.
July 2011	Check the MyERAS website Continue working on CV. and personal statement. Continue asking faculty for letters of recommendation. Continue to seek advice from advisors, residents, friends.
August 2011	August 15th. Applicant registration opens. Inquire about dean's letter appointment with medical school dean's office. Continue working on CV. and personal statement. Continue asking faculty for letters of recommendation. Continue obtaining residency information via residency program websites, requesting information directly from programs. Continue to seek advice from advisors, residents, friends.
September 2011	Programs start receiving applications on September 2, 2011. Finalize CV. and personal statement. Begin filling out applications via ERAS. Continue asking faculty for letters of recommendation. Continue obtaining residency information via residency program websites, requesting information directly from programs. Continue to seek advice from advisors, residents, friends.
October 2011	Select residency programs begin inviting applicants for interviews. Make final edits to personal statement. Submit ERAS application if finished. Be aware of application deadlines. Continue asking faculty for letters of recommendation. Continue obtaining residency information via residency program websites, requesting information directly from programs. Continue to seek advice from advisors, residents, friends.
November 2011	Dean's Letters released to programs on November 1. Continue interviewing at residency programs. Submit ERAS application. Make sure letters of recommendation are secure. Check to make sure application materials are complete for each program through ERAS website. Send thank you letters for letters of recommendation writers.
December 2011	Continue interviewing at residency programs. Continue to seek advice from advisors, residents, friends.
January 2012	Residency program interviews end during January-February Urology Residency Match Students may consider "second-look" visits to programs they are interested in. Beginning January 15th, Applicants and programs enter their Rank Order Lists Continue to seek advice from advisors, residents, friends.
February 2012	Students continue to take "second-look" visits to select programs. Continue to seek advice from advisors, residents, friends. February 22, 2012. The Rank order list registration closes at 9:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST). Late Registration Deadline Rank order list deadline Rank order list entry closes and the R3 System shuts down at 11:59 pm eastern time. CERTIFIED applicant and program rank order lists and any other information pertinent to the Match must be entered in the R3 System by this date and time
March 2012	March 12, 2012, Matched and Unmatched Information on applicants posted to the Web at 12:00 noon EST. [specific Match information not made available]Filled and unfilled results for individual programs posted to the website at 11:30 am eastern time. Locations of all unfilled positions are released at 12:00 noon eastern time. Unmatched applicants may begin contacting unfilled programs at 12:00 noon eastern March 13, 2012 Programs with unfilled positions may start entering their Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program (SOAP) preference lists at 11:30 a.m. eastern time. March 14, 2012 Programs with unfilled positions must finalize their first-round Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program (SOAP) preference lists by 11:55 a.m. eastern time. Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program (SOAP) offer rounds begin at 12:00 noon eastern time. Approx March 16, 2012.MATCH DAY Match results for applicants are posted on the NRMP Web site at 1:00 p.m. EST. After March 17 Hospitals send letters of appointment to matched applicants who then must sign and return the letters of appointment. Celebrate!
