joke!) What do you want your tombstone to say? What is your purpose on Earth? What would you do if you only had 24 hours to live (while tying a knot around a pencil). If you cheated on the OITE along with 3 classmates and you were caught, would you turn in the other 3? Do you think Elian Gonzalez should be returned to Cuba? Why Maine? Do you mind sleeping in a room without a door? We do not advertise our large sign-on bonus, so why did you come interview at our program? Your medical school is only mediocre how do you defend that? Why did you get a "C" in anatomy and pharmacology? Give me your favorite recipe. What is wrong with society today? Program director asked you to find Waldo. Chairman asked me to tie knots. One handed, two handed, left handed, right handed, have fun. What type of animal would you be and why? What is the physics department at your institution doing? What is the best movie you have seen recently? Who was the most influential person of the 20th century was and why? If I asked one of your colleagues a year down the road, " the one thing I cant stand about her is ____" Fill in the blank. Why didn't you take malaria prophylaxis when you traveled abroad? Being single, could you live in Central Texas for another 3 years? If you could have dinner with any 3 people in history, who would they be, and why? We were asked questions by 4 faculty members simultaneously, while at the same time constructing three-dimensional objects from surgical "K-wires". I'm surprised to see you, I thought you wanted to go to Boston. What food would you eat if you could only have one food for the rest of your life. What do you like to do when you go crazy? Are you a Yankees or a Mets fan? How does the Constitution of the United States start? You probably didn't interview at UCSF, did you? Tell me about stereo equipment, in particular about firewire. On a scale of 0-100 rate the effort you put into the following: undergrad, grad school, med school. And then tell me how much you have in reserve to put into a residency program. What did you build in the last year? "I see that you are interested in skiing. Please explain to me the physics of the new side-cut skis." We had to play the game Operation during the interview. Why were your board scores low? You know that junk drawer you have in your kitchen, if you could pick one thing in that drawer to describe yourself, what would it be? Can you juggle? Do you have thick skin? Would you mind if I yell at you? Do you drink beer, drive a pickup, or own boots? So we're not as stuffy as our reputation is are we? What CD is in your CD player? Do you prefer wine or beer? Do you know what a Hoosier is? What would be the most telling question you would ask of a residency applicant? Now answer it. How much did you pay for your car? Tell me a joke. Tell me about your car. Can you show us how to two-step? If I could be any ornament on a Xmas tree which would it be? Who is the point guard for the NJ Nets? Would you strike another person? Do you own a warm coat? What do you think of that crocodile hunter guy? If you had $1 million, how would you spend it? If you walked into a room with blocks or play-dough, which would you choose to play with? Did you participate in the nude Olympics in college? Standard stuff: What can you bring to the program? Why do you want to be a part of this program? What attracted you to this program? Why did you choose to go into internal medicine? Where do you see yourself in 10 years.? What makes you different? What are your strengths/weaknesses? Who was your most difficult patient? What are my goals for residency? What do I hope to get out of the experience? Are you really willing to leave the west coast for the east coast and why? How would you describe yourself? What was your toughest challenge in life? |
