REQUIRED READING for 2nd year students!! I consider First Aid USMLE an excellent effort for those going for board exam. One must see before starting preparation for the exam as it guide how to read, what to read, how to prepare and what is the demand of the board. And once you complete with other books and review books/coures, then again start reading the first aid, as it will remind you and prepare your brain for exam!!
Step-Up: A High-Yield, Systems-Based Review for the USMLE Step 1 ExamStep-Up is designed as a single-volume, concise yet comprehensive review book for 2nd year medical students preparing for the USMLE Step 1. This Second Edition addresses the new format of the USMLE Step 1 by incorporating a systems-based orientation, clinical integration of content, and expanded clinical cases. The book presents information in different ways in order to suit different learning styles. It includes material in bulleted, “high-yield” form, comprehensive illustrations and tables, clinical case studies, and “Quick Hits,” or clinical “pearls” in the margin.
Pathophysiology for the Boards and Wards provides an outline review of the pathological conditions most commonly found on the USMLE Step 1. It can also serve as a convenient reference of high-yield information during the first two years of medical school. This is the most concise, thorough, and clinically oriented pathophysiology review book available.
“Great for emphasizing key points — the same ones that seem to come up again and again in all the review books, plus a few extra. The quiz-yourself format lets you go as quickly or as slowly as you need to. And it’s great to pick up when you have a few minutes to study but don’t have enough time to get into a full study session. “
NMS Review for USMLE Step 1 (National Medical Series for Independent Study)
“Get this whole series and you’ll be sure to pass, if not excel on this exam. The questions and answers thoroughly cover the tested material. Don’t be disappointed if you miss many of the questions, you’ll find that the actual exam is much easier than this series!”
Probably the Highest of any review Series! Jam Packed with info!
“I WISH I had used this book DURING my course in med school (instead of waiting to use it for just review)! It would have been very helpful for exams. Most of the other High Yield books work best when used as a supplement to a more detailed book (or as a review after you’ve learned the material), but this one is still pretty detailed itself, without being overwhelming. It is a great review of the essential things you need to know for the USMLE. Good pictures, great clinical correlations, and good layout. It is up-to-date as well. “
