Fool’s Rools for residency Interviews

Hello everyone! Good luck to everyone going on your residency interviews. A few words of wisdom:

Fools Rules
1 Don’t be late! – Never be late, if anything, be early (you can always nap in the parking lot if you get there early.
2 Trust no one! – Even when you meet people who say “I’m not on the committee, you can ask me anything…” Don’t believe that for a minute! They can and WILL give feedback about some silly question you may have asked or some off hand negative comments you make! Watch out!
3 Be nice! – If you are rude to the secretary, or even the Janitor (like in NBC’s ‘Scrubs’) The program director WILL find out.
4 Do some research – Try not to ask questions that are obviously available on the Program website. That will seem like you don’t care.
5 Don’t trash talk – Avoid making really negative comments about other local programs. A comment about what you liked or didn’t like is one thing, but to trash everyone just makes you look bad.
6 Don’t be a hotshot. If you go on rounds, or morning conference, it’s ok to say an answer if asked, or if they invite the applicants to say something, but do NOT but in with your comments unless it’s ok!

Good luck!! – Fool
