Well, tonight, the fool is again, on call @ Training Hospital USA. So far a relatively decent night. But did I tell you about the guy who brought in a jar of bugs? This guy brings in a small jar filled with bleach and peroxide and small particles floating around which he says are worms and flies that he picked off his body! Yummy! He’s admitted for a cellulitis (which started as a worm according to him), and get this: After a shower, he comes out and is upset that his sheets weren’t changed while he was in the shower, and he demands to sign out AMA (against medical advice)! What a nut! He says that where he was living on the streets was cleaner than his hospital bed! That must be some street corner! Sign me up!
OH well, I guess sometimes you just feel like the hospital concierge. Guess I’ll have to start putting mints on the pillows…

(Friday August 29,2003 - 1:43 am)I think you sound like the lead guy from NBC’s Scrubs in this entry!
But in all honesty, this is a really poor man! I hope anyone who treats this man, ewwwwww as he is, somehow gets a takeaway of I helped a strange guy get a worm out of his body! The reason why he is so rude and mean and AMA is probably because he is just really really unhappy and really really uncooperative because he’s really sick and he hates being in the hospital.
Maybe you would cheer him up if you gave him an Andes.
But, overall, I would rate this a very funny event. I think the funniest part is the part about being a hospital concierge and putting mints on the pillows.

(Friday March 19,2004 - 8:40 am)I had the same thing happen when I was an intern I think we called it delusional parasitosis. I got him to GOMER (get out of my ER) by telling him to go to the grocery store and buy peppermint incense and it would make all the bugs leave his house. He never came back.
